What to expect

Your Moreton Island adventure begins at the Brisbane wharf, where staff will confirm the day’s timings. Enjoy a 75-minute scenic ferry ride across Moreton Bay, with a complimentary beverage available on either the outbound or return journey.

On arrival, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy full access to Tangalooma Island Resort facilities, including swimming pools, cafés, restaurants, bars, and the sandy beach. Then, join the Desert Safari Tour — a thrilling 4WD ride through the bushland to the Tangalooma Desert. Along the way, you’ll experience the island’s rugged terrain before trying sand tobogganing down massive dunes at speeds of up to 40 km/h.

At 3:15 PM, you can visit the Eco Centre for the optional Discover the World of Dolphins presentation, or simply continue enjoying the island until sunset. In the evening, make your way to the jetty for the highlight of the day: the wild dolphin feeding program. Watch as a pod of dolphins swims close to shore, then follow an expert into the shallow water and hand-feed fish to a wild bottlenose dolphin. Assisted by the Dolphin Care Team and Eco Rangers, this unique wildlife encounter is conducted under strict guidelines to ensure the dolphins’ protection.

At approximately 7:00 PM, depart Moreton Island by ferry, arriving back at Brisbane around 8:15 PM — the perfect ending to a day of adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.

The whole day was fantastic. Directions to the terminal were clear. All of the instructions on where to meet for activities were clear. If it did it again, I would bring goggles for the sand activity, as we all ended up with sand in our eyes. We bought the photos, which include all photos that were taken during the day. I would have booked a sunset photo session if I had known that. We booked quad ATVs once we got there, which was really fun. It was a fun day. We loved feeding the dolphins. It was a great experience.

Was very well organized and the staff was wonderful. Really loved the resort and the beach. Activities were a bit expensive so couldn’t do all we wanted but everything we did was so much fun and such a great experience. The wild dolphin feeding is not to be missed!!

Moreton Island is a very beautiful island. The desert safari with sand sledding was a lot of fun. We even had showers in the lounge area where we could get rid of all the sand.
