Yes, Millaa Millaa Falls is worth visiting from Cairns when you make it part of an Atherton Tablelands day. In normal conditions, the 18-metre waterfall is easy to see without a long bushwalk, and nearby Zillie and Ellinjaa Falls turn one stop into a proper waterfall circuit.
Driving out for one photo and returning to Cairns is harder to justify. The direct drive takes about 1 hour 40 minutes each way, while the stop itself takes about 30–60 minutes unless you want to swim or picnic. The wider circuit makes much better use of the drive.

Millaa Millaa Falls is about 98 kilometres from Cairns. The direct drive takes roughly 1 hour 40 minutes each way in normal traffic.
The return drive alone takes about 3 hours 20 minutes. Once you add a 30–60 minute stop, even a quick standalone trip takes about four hours or more before traffic, food or breaks.

May to October is the easiest period for sightseeing. These months are generally drier around Cairns and the Wet Tropics, which makes the drive and outdoor stops easier to plan.
From November to April, summer rain can give the waterfall a stronger flow. The same rain can also bring fast-moving water and road or access problems. Don’t make the drive in heavy rain just for a fuller waterfall.
Start early if you want time to photograph all three falls without rushing the last stop.

Each stop gives you something different. Millaa Millaa has the broad single-drop view and natural pool. Zillie has a viewing platform close to the parking area. At Ellinjaa, a zigzag track leads through tree ferns and vines towards the stream.
The driving distances are short, but parking, walking and photo stops add up. Do not squeeze all three into the final hour of the day. Plan your food stop in Millaa Millaa township or elsewhere in the Tablelands.
