This tour combines the historical world heritage site Port Arthur Penitentiary Centre, the beautiful coastline of Eastern Tasmania and Cradle Mountain. It is an alternative to the six day tour.
The tour goes anticlockwise, starting from Launceston and picking up at Hobart. Then we drive up to Mt Wellington and continue to Port Arthur after viewing the spectacular sea cliffs of Tasman peninsula. Then we drive along the Eastern Tasmanian coastline to Bicheno. Freycinet National Park and an Tourville Lookout is also on the itinerary.
Bicheno is known for its little residents – fairy penguins. The view and be amazed by native wildlife at Nature World. Half of the drive is along beautiful coastlines, via St Helens and Binalong Bay Beach/ bay of fire, a fishing town, then Pyengana Cheese farm and St Columba waterfalls.
Overnight at Launceston. Next day Cradle Mountain via Sheffield, on return, visit Chudleigh Honey Farm before returning to Launceston.
Tour starts from either Launceston or Hobart ends in Launceston
Pick up from your hotel ,then drive via the Heritage Highway to the historic Midland towns of Ross (famous for its carved stone bridge) and Oatlands (with many fine colonial stone cottages). Arrive in Hobart and drive to the top of Mt Wellington (1270m) for spectacular views in all directions. After a short drive in the city, head to the Tasman Peninsula for more spectacular coastlines in the Tasman National Park and its sea cliffs from the lookout. Next, see nature’s wonders – the Blowhole, Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen. Overnight at Nubeena/Port Arthur.
Visit Port Arthur Historical Site for a guided walking tour and browse the site to learn about the convict history of Tasmania; then a short visit to a boutique chocolate factory, Federation Chocolates, before leaving the Tasman Peninsula for the East Coast. Next is Swansea – a beautiful East Coast town. Freycinet National Park is also in itinerary. We can stop at suitable location for you to taste freshly picked succulent oysters (own expense). At Bicheno a locally guided penguin tour is optional.Overnight in Bicheno.
See the amazing Blowhole at the rocky coastline of Bicheno. Visit the multi-award winning East Coast Nature World, a wildlife park. See the granite-rock coastline of the Bay of Fires and one of Tasmania’s best beaches at Binalong Bay. Drive towards Launceston via Scottsdale. On the way, see magnificent St Columba Falls (90m), and carved memorial trees at Legerwood. Arrive in Launceston about 17:30. Overnight in Launceston.
Drive to Cradle Mt National Park via Sheffield, viewing famous lifelike murals and Mt Ronald .There, we walk around Dove Lake and enjoy the view of Cradle Mountain. Then we take a 20 minute easy walk along the creek (Enchanted Walk), view Pencil Pine waterfall, and visit the interpretation centre, then return to Launceston via Chudleigh Honey Farm where they offer more than 50+ honey varieties and famous honey ice cream. Return to Launceston at about 17:45.
