Trade the usual evening stroll for a 7-kilometre Segway ride along the Airlie Beach foreshore, combining coastal sightseeing, local stories and dinner in one easy three-hour outing. Courtesy pickup from selected mainland Airlie Beach locations brings you to the starting point, where your guide fits your helmet and takes you through a full rider-training session. No previous Segway experience is needed, and you will have time to practise until starting, stopping and steering feel natural.
Once everyone is comfortable, follow the Whitsunday Bicentennial Boardwalk beside Pioneer Bay. Glide past Coral Sea Marina, Shingley Beach and the Whitsunday Botanic Gardens on the way towards Cannonvale Beach, stopping at points of interest while your guide shares stories about Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays. Travelling by Segway lets you cover more of the waterfront than an ordinary walk while still leaving time to slow down for the views and photos.
As the afternoon light softens across the bay, enjoy the return glide along the boardwalk before stopping at Sorrento Restaurant for an included light dinner. Settle in by the waterfront, enjoy your meal and watch Airlie Beach shift into evening.
With courtesy transfers, equipment, training, local commentary and dinner already organised, this tour is an easy choice for first-time riders, couples, families travelling with teenagers and anyone looking for a fun land-based Whitsundays experience after a day on the water.
Really enjoyable tour. Zak made sure everyone was comfortable and confident with the segways and the views along the tour were stunning.

Yes. No previous Segway experience is required. The tour begins with approximately 30 minutes of rider training, giving you time to practise starting, stopping, steering and turning. The main ride begins once you can control the Segway safely and feel comfortable.
Riders must be at least 12 years old and weigh between 45 and 117 kilograms. Guests under 18 require permission and supervision from a responsible adult.
You will ride rather than walk the 7-kilometre route, but operating a Segway still requires active balance and control. Riders must be able to stand unaided for extended periods and have sufficient vision and hearing to follow the safety instructions. The tour is not suitable during pregnancy or for guests with back problems or mobility impairments.
The tour operates on the Airlie Beach mainland, with courtesy pickup from selected mainland locations. Guests staying on a Whitsunday island need to travel to Airlie Beach by ferry before their confirmed pickup or meeting time.
The standard public tour has a maximum of eight travellers. The small group gives each rider time for training, assistance and stops along the boardwalk.
The tour normally operates in rain and most weather conditions when it is safe to do so. Bring a jacket or raincoat and dress for the forecast. The route or schedule may be adjusted if conditions make riding unsafe, and tours do not operate in cyclonic conditions.
The tour is scheduled for the late afternoon so the boardwalk ride and dinner coincide with the evening light over Pioneer Bay. The exact sunset colours and visibility depend on cloud and weather conditions, so a particular sunset cannot be guaranteed.
Very laidback tour of airlie beach coast line and boardwalk. Zak our tour guide was great and very friendly
This was the perfect tour. Great views. Great info and great company. What more could you want.
Zak was a great instructor and tour guide. Very safe conscious without losing the fun of getting around on a Segway. A bit of local knowledge learnt along the way with various stops at points of interest. Really appreciated the pickup and drop off service as well.
Group sizes typically 8 people but we were the only two people booked in for that time slot! Essentially a private tour! Was super awesome and Zac was super informative and helpful. Dinner was fantastic and the views were gorgeous! Thanks Zac :))
It was the most fun ever! If your new to the are definitely give it a try! The tour guide was amazing and the Segway is so much fun!! My partner and I enjoyed it very much!
