What to expect

See the Blue Mountains without piecing together trains, buses and far-flung lookouts yourself. This full-day experience brings together peaceful valley viewpoints, a guided bushwalk, free time in Leura and a scenic cruise back into Sydney, with an accredited guide and comfortable minicoach connecting the day.

Look across the wilderness from quieter stops such as Kings Tableland and Cahill’s Lookout, then follow your guide on a light bushwalk towards a waterfall viewpoint such as Wentworth Falls. In Leura, take time to choose lunch from the village cafés and browse the shops before continuing to Katoomba for the Three Sisters and their stories.

Sydney Zoo and Scenic World are both optional extras, keeping the base fare lower and giving you the flexibility to add the experiences that appeal to you. The zoo offers time with Australian and exotic animals, while Scenic World brings together the Railway, Cableway, Skyway and rainforest Walkway. The route and order of stops may change with weather, traffic and crowd conditions so the guide can make the most of the day.

Pickup begins at scheduled Sydney locations from around 6.45am, with the minicoach leaving the city centre at about 8.00am. The included 45-minute river and harbour cruise forms the final leg back to central Sydney, where the day usually finishes at around 6.00–6.30pm.

The trip was fun. Though the weather was not good when we went there, our tour guide Liz was very experienced so we were still able to see the amazing views. We were picked up on-time and had enough time to appreciate each stop. Liz was very nice, funny and enthusiastic. It shows that he really loves what he’s doing and we admire him for that. Scenic World is a MUST-GO! And the steepest train is so fun that one ride won’t be enough. Overall, we enjoyed the tour and it’s all worth it. Thank you Liz and Oz for this memorable trip.

Really enjoyed this tour and the variety of the zoo, Scenic World and the drive around the views of the Blue Mountains. The scenery was stunning, despite the rain, and the guide varied the order of things to allow time for weather to clear at various points. Les, the guide, was brilliant, knowledgeable and funny and made the 10.5 hours fly past. Highly recommended.

  • A 95% refund will be offered for customer-requested cancellations made up to 6 days prior to travel, with a 5% non-refundable administration and booking fee retained. Cancellations made within 5 days of travel will incur a 100% cancellation fee, including no-shows.

Are Sydney Zoo and Scenic World included in the tour price?

Both are optional extras, giving you the flexibility to add the experiences that interest you. Scenic World entry includes access to the Railway, Cableway, Skyway and rainforest Walkway, while Sydney Zoo admission and lunch in Leura are also paid separately.

Is the river cruise included, and where does it take me?

Yes. The included 45-minute ferry journey travels along the Parramatta River into Sydney Harbour and finishes in central Sydney, usually around 6.00–6.30pm. It makes for an easy, relaxing final leg after the day in the mountains.

Do I need to be very fit, and how much walking is involved?

No. The tour is rated easy and involves light walking at lookout points and along short tracks. Comfortable closed-in shoes will make the walks more enjoyable.

Is this tour suitable for children?

Yes. The tour is open to all ages, and families often enjoy the mix of lookouts, short walks and optional wildlife and Scenic World experiences. It is a long full day, so younger children should be comfortable with coach travel and getting on and off at several stops.

What should I bring?

Bring water, comfortable closed-in shoes, a hat and sunscreen. A light raincoat and extra layer are useful year-round, while a warm jacket and beanie are a good idea in winter.

What happens if the weather is cloudy or rainy?

The tour usually runs in most weather, and the guide can adjust the route or stop order to make the most of the conditions. Lookout views can vary, so bring rain protection and dress in layers.

Is pickup available from my hotel?

Pickup is available from a set list of central Sydney locations rather than every hotel. Choose the most convenient scheduled point when booking and be ready before your confirmed time, as the minicoach leaves each stop on schedule.

We had an amazing day in the Blue Mountains with a stop at Sydney Zoo on the way up. Our tour guide Les was awesome. Lots of information about places on the way up to the Mountains and lots of laughs too. Would highly recommend the tour and if you get Les as your guide then you’re in for a great day.
