The remaining 5% will be retained as a non-refundable administration and booking fee. Cancellations made within 5 days of travel will incur a 100% cancellation fee, including no-shows.

Choose the Adventure Bay departure if you’re already on Bruny Island or have your own car and want the freedom to explore independently. Choose the Kettering bus option if you’d prefer to leave your car on the mainland. Free parking is available at Oyster Cove Marina, and this option includes return SeaLink ferry crossings, guided bus travel across Bruny Island and the same three hours on the water.

From Hobart, allow about 45 minutes to reach Kettering and aim to arrive at the ferry terminal around 30 minutes before your chosen ferry. The crossing takes approximately 15–20 minutes, followed by about 40 minutes of driving to Adventure Bay. Plan to check in 30 minutes before your selected cruise time.

The day is centred on the cruise rather than a full island sightseeing loop. The cruise finishes at about 2pm and the return bus leaves at approximately 3.15pm, giving you around an hour in Adventure Bay. Food isn’t included, but morning tea and lunch are available to purchase. If you want the freedom to visit several island attractions, the self-drive departure is the better fit.

The boats are custom-built for Bruny Island’s open-water coastline and handle the conditions confidently, although the Southern Ocean can sometimes feel lively. Travel Calm Ginger tablets are offered as you board, and seats in the back third usually have less movement. If you begin to feel uncomfortable, let the crew know early so they can help.

Dress for open water, even when Adventure Bay feels warm and sunny. Bring a few warm layers, a jacket, beanie, scarf and gloves, as the wind can feel cold once the boat reaches the exposed coast. A wet-weather jacket is supplied to wear over your own clothing.
