Gain entry to the Cairns Aquarium and explore one of Australia’s most impressive marine attractions, home to more than 16,000 aquatic animals native to Tropical North Queensland. Wander through 11 zones that represent 9 key ecosystems, featuring 71 different habitats filled with extraordinary marine and freshwater life. Highlights include Australia’s only 10-meter-deep reef tank, the spectacular 360-degree Oceanarium, and the mangrove boardwalk.
Enjoy interactive experiences such as marine touch tanks, live diver feeding shows, and freshwater exhibits — including the largest in the country. Then, join a guided tour of the Turtle Rehabilitation Center, where rescued sea turtles are nursed back to health before being released into the wild. Learn about the threats these creatures face, including plastic pollution and habitat loss, and meet the turtles currently undergoing rehabilitation.

Your ticket includes both general admission to Cairns Aquarium and an approximately 30-minute guided visit to the onsite turtle rehabilitation centre. Guided sessions currently run at 11.15am and 12.15pm daily. You can explore the aquarium at your own pace before or after your scheduled session during opening hours.
Allow around 2 to 3 hours for a relaxed visit. Most guests spend approximately 1.5 to 2 hours exploring the aquarium, with another 30 minutes for the guided turtle experience. You may want a little longer if you plan to attend the daily wildlife presentations, take photos or spend extra time at your favourite exhibits.
You will meet sea turtles currently receiving care and learn about their individual rescue and recovery stories. As this is a working rehabilitation centre, the number and species of turtles can change as patients recover and return to the ocean. This means every visit offers a genuine look at the centre’s current conservation work.
