What to expect

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, located between Cairns and Port Douglas, is one of Tropical North Queensland’s most iconic wildlife attractions. Start your adventure with a boat cruise through natural wetlands and watch powerful crocodiles being pole fed by expert handlers.

The park offers a variety of shows and experiences throughout the day. Highlights include the thrilling Crocodile Attack Show, a venomous snake demonstration, and a tour of the crocodile farm. Between shows, stroll along 2,500 meters of boardwalks winding through rainforest, wetlands, and eucalypt woodland to encounter cassowaries, wombats, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, Komodo dragons, and more. You can also explore the Gallery of Living Art, home to exotic reptiles and tropical birds.

Finish your visit with a memorable photo opportunity holding a baby croc, python, or lizard. Snacks and meals are available at the onsite bistro to recharge during your visit.

For those booking optional transfers from Cairns, Northern Beaches, or Port Douglas, the tour operates as a half-day experience of approximately 5 hours in total — making it a convenient choice for travellers with limited time.

Please note: Transfers require a minimum of 2 passengers (adults or children). Single travellers are not eligible to book the transfer option.

It was amazing to be so close to crocodiles knowing we were safe. Everything about the farm was very educational. I especially enjoyed the snake demonstration. It was great to actually hear correct information about snakes and to learn the first aid. So many myths out there. Snakes are actually so beautiful. It was an amazing experience and I would recommend to all ages.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the booking options?

Choose Park Entry if you are making your own way to the park. The Cairns and Northern Beaches option and the Port Douglas option both include park admission plus return transfers from eligible pickup locations. All three options include the lagoon cruise, wildlife displays and scheduled presentations. Return transfers require a minimum of two passengers.

Where will I be picked up if I choose the transfer option?

Pickup is available from selected accommodation and nearby meeting points in Cairns, the Northern Beaches and Port Douglas. Choose the transfer option for your departure area and select an available pickup point when booking. Accommodation pickups begin before the shuttle’s listed departure time, so please be ready at the time shown for your selected location.

Is the park visit guided or self-guided?

The park is designed for self-guided exploration, allowing you to move between shows, walking trails and wildlife habitats at your own pace. Keepers lead the scheduled wildlife presentations, while the lagoon cruise includes commentary, giving you plenty of expert insight throughout the visit without having to stay with one guide.

Which transfer time should I choose if I want to see the Crocodile Attack Show?

If the 3pm Crocodile Attack Show is high on your list, choose an afternoon transfer or make your own way to the park. Morning shuttles normally return at around 1pm to 1.30pm, making them a good match for the morning snake show and crocodile feeding. Afternoon shuttles return at about 4.45pm, allowing time for the 3pm show.

Is the lagoon boat cruise included with admission?

Yes. Admission includes one approximately 20-minute cruise on Hartley’s Lagoon. The cruise is designed for close-up crocodile viewing and feeding demonstrations within the wildlife park rather than wild crocodile spotting on a natural river. Your cruise time is allocated when you arrive.

Can I buy food and drinks inside the park?

Yes. Lilies Restaurant overlooks the lagoon and serves coffee, cold drinks and snacks from 8.30am to 4pm, with hot and cold meals generally available from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Food and drinks are not included in the ticket price.

Is this experience suitable for families with young children?

Yes. The lagoon cruise, short keeper presentations, wildlife habitats, shaded seating, playground and baby-change facilities make it easy to enjoy the park with younger children. There are more than 2.5 kilometres of paths and boardwalks, so a stroller can be useful for little ones.

Is the park accessible for wheelchair users?

Yes. Most of the park is reasonably level and wheelchair accessible, and each lagoon boat can accommodate one wheelchair. Gondwana Gateway and Cassowary Walk have moderately steep sections where assistance may be helpful. Wheelchairs are available free of charge from Admissions and should be reserved before the visit.

This park was absolutely amazing! There were so many crocodiles, the most and the largest I’ve ever seen! And the crocodile show was amazing. I really left here with a lot of knowledge about crocs and other animals too. There’s also a boat ride which was great. I definitely recommend this park if you’re in Cairns.
