What to expect

Begin your day at Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, located between Cairns and Port Douglas, with a unique Australian experience — breakfast with a koala. Relax on the deck overlooking the lagoon as you enjoy a hearty hot breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, and toast, accompanied by fruit juice, tea, or coffee.

During breakfast, a wildlife keeper will introduce you to one of the park’s koalas. You’ll have the chance to meet the koala up close, learn fascinating facts, and ask any questions you may have. It’s the perfect way to start your day surrounded by nature and Australia’s most iconic animal.

After breakfast, spend the rest of the day exploring Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures at your leisure. Highlights include the famous crocodile pole-feeding boat cruise, the Crocodile Attack Show, and live snake demonstrations. Along the boardwalks and exhibits, encounter kangaroos, wallabies, emus, lizards, and more.

For those booking optional transfers from Cairns, Northern Beaches, or Port Douglas, the tour operates as a half-day experience of approximately 5 hours in total — making it a convenient choice for travellers with limited time.

Please note: Transfers require a minimum of 2 passengers (adults or children). Single travellers are not eligible to book the transfer option.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take my own photo with the koala during breakfast?

Yes. During the keeper visit, you can gently pat the koala and take photos on your own device. The breakfast interaction does not include holding the koala. Separate scheduled wildlife photo sessions may be available later in the park at an additional cost.

Can I stay in the park after breakfast?

Yes. Your ticket includes park entry, so self-drive guests can continue exploring the wildlife exhibits, presentations and lagoon cruise after breakfast and stay until the park closes at 5pm. If you select return transfers, your time in the park follows the scheduled coach departure.

Do I need to reserve the lagoon boat cruise separately?

No. One lagoon cruise is included with your admission, and your cruise time is allocated at Admissions when you arrive. The cruise takes around 20 minutes, making it easy to plan the other wildlife presentations around it.

Is this experience suitable for young children and families?

Yes. The park has wildlife presentations, shaded seating, a playground and baby-change facilities, giving families plenty to see and places to take a break. There are more than 2.5 kilometres of paths and boardwalks, so a stroller can be useful for younger children.

Is the park accessible for wheelchair and stroller users?

Most of the park is wheelchair accessible and reasonably level, and each lagoon boat can accommodate one wheelchair. The routes to Gondwana Gateway and Cassowary Walk are moderately steep, so assistance may be helpful. A wheelchair can be reserved free of charge before your visit, and strollers can be used across most of the park.

Is a vegetarian breakfast available?

Yes. A vegetarian breakfast option is available. After booking, please contact us with any dietary requirements.

Is parking available for self-drive guests?

Yes. Free off-street parking is available, including designated spaces for mobility-impaired visitors and spaces for caravans and motorhomes. The park entrance is just off the Captain Cook Highway at Wangetti.
