See a greener side of the Whitsundays on an easy five-hour escape that pairs a freshwater swim with a long waterfront lunch. With transport between the two main stops already organised, you can leave the driving and route planning behind and spend the day moving from the rainforest setting of Cedar Creek Falls to sweeping Coral Sea views at Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill.
Travel inland with a local guide as the coastline gives way to tropical forest. At Cedar Creek Falls, cool off in the freshwater rockpools, find a quiet place beside the water or follow the optional walk towards the top of the falls. White cedar trees, Alexandra palms and wild orchids line the surrounding forest, while colourful butterflies and native birds add to the feeling of being well beyond the busy Airlie Beach waterfront.
Then trade rainforest greens for open blue water at Northerlies. Settle in for an included lunch and your choice of a beer, wine or soft drink, with time afterwards to explore the waterfront grounds, enjoy the beach setting or simply stay at the table and take in the views across the Coral Sea and Whitsunday Islands.
The relaxed pace gives you approximately 1 hour 45 minutes at each main stop, creating plenty of time to swim, explore and enjoy lunch without feeling rushed. Waterfall flow changes with recent rainfall and seasonal conditions, while the freshwater rockpool and rainforest setting can still be enjoyed when the falls are not cascading.
There was just 4 of us went out with the lovely Donna. Had a wonderful time with great company. Donna is an excellent tour guide with brilliant local information. Everything was explained so well to us and great thought went into our wellbeing. Would definitely recommend this trip to others considering doing it. Thanks Donna for a great day.
Donna provided an excellent day out, she went over and beyond to make our day one to remember. We highly recommend this day trip! Marg and Tony – Melbourne

Waterfall flow depends on recent rainfall and seasonal conditions. Even when the waterfall is not cascading, the freshwater rockpool and rainforest setting can still be enjoyed, and swimming is possible when conditions allow.
No. Swimming is completely optional. You can relax beside the rockpool, take photos and enjoy the surrounding forest without entering the water.
You can enjoy the main rockpool area without completing the optional walk towards the top of the falls. The optional route follows natural, uneven terrain and includes rocky sections, so enclosed shoes and steady footing are important. The tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
No. This is a mainland day trip, with bus travel between Airlie Beach, Cedar Creek Falls and Northerlies. It is a good way to experience another side of the Whitsundays without spending the day at sea.
The five-hour experience normally includes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes at Cedar Creek Falls and approximately 1 hour 45 minutes at Northerlies. The remaining time covers the road journey between Airlie Beach and the two locations.
Yes. You can stay at Northerlies instead of taking the scheduled tour return. A courtesy coach normally departs for Airlie Beach approximately every 45 minutes, allowing you to continue enjoying the waterfront venue at your own pace.
There is no dedicated changing room provided for this tour. We recommend wearing your swimwear under your clothes and bringing a towel and a dry layer to change into after swimming.
Donna was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgable and funny!
We thought our guide Donna was very informative and very friendly.
Our guide Jenny was wonderful and friendly. The organisers were great in that they emailed us to tell us that the falls weren’t actually running due to lack of rain, but that they would ensure we had a good time anyway, which they did. I was concerned we wouldn’t get to swim in the creek, but it was still deep enough to swim in which I was glad about. Northerlies was also a lovely place for lunch.
The driver/tourguide Donna was friendly, pleasant and informative. She went out of her way to give the group a good time. Everything was great about the day.
We all had a brilliant time. I’m awful with names but our guide was superb! Our coach broke down and we had to wait for a replacement to pick us up, but she remained so positive and relaxed that we all just felt calm and enjoyed the time together.
