What to expect

Leave Launceston in the morning and travel to the colourful town of Sheffield, famous for its outdoor murals depicting local history. Continue into the wilderness, winding through lush rainforest roads on your way to Cradle Mountain National Park.

Begin with a gentle guided walk to Pencil Pine Falls before setting off on the day’s highlight: the Dove Lake Circuit. This 6km trail circles the glassy waters beneath Cradle Mountain, offering stunning views at every turn. For those seeking more adventure, tackle the climb to Marion’s Lookout for sweeping panoramas of alpine peaks and glacial lakes.

Enjoy a picnic-style lunch surrounded by pristine nature before heading back. On the return journey, stop at Van Diemen’s Ice Creamery and Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm for a sweet taste of Tasmania. With world-class hiking, breathtaking scenery, and indulgent treats, this day tour captures the very best of Cradle Mountain.

We return into Launceston around 6.00pm after a huge yet unforgettable Cradle Mountain day.

A great day all round! Our guide was very knowledgable and could answer all of our questions. It was chilly and I was very impressed that they provided coats, hats and gloves too! Beautiful views and we saw a good few wombats! Even a Mum and baby.

Damien was a very thoughtful fun and interesting guide, He seemed keen to impact his love of the Aussie bush to the group and for everyone to have a wonderful experience. He was an excellent driver. He kept everything and everyone on track and gave enough time and options to enjoy the Cradle Mountain experience. We were extremely lucky to have perfect weather- warm cloudless sky to view the scenery. Recommend this company as they give several hours to walk and explore. and it’s very convenient to have a bus that goes directly into the park. Save yourself the hassle of driving and park shuttles and take this group tour !!

It was cloudy day in the morning. Started from hotel grand chancellor Launceston, first stop is Sheffield town 1+ hour away. We bought bread for lunch, the Sheffield town was popular for their wall paintings, you may have a look in the 20 minutes. Then we go to cradle mountain visitor center. It was a bit raining, the guide provided some rain coats for borrowing. We walked the whole dove lake path circled the lake, starting from 10.35 to 13:15. We failed to gather at 13:00. Later, I found that the suggested time is 2-3 hours. I think stay longer in dove lake is not bad, it allows us to wait for the cradle mountain until it is not blocked by cloud/fog and take better picture, enjoy the view. It is the main purpose for most visitors, I’d say. Others back earlier has visited the valley nearby. Then we view wombat closely. The icecream factory is basically an icecream shop next to a farm, we didn’t see the farm/factory part.

I loved the trip. Graeme commentary along the way was very informative, he gave the trip some added flare. There was more than enough time to do what I wanted to do. Thanks so much.
