What to expect

Your full-day adventure begins with early morning pick-ups from Cairns, the Northern Beaches, and Port Douglas before heading north to Mossman Gorge. At the Gateway Centre, board a shuttle into the gorge for a guided rainforest walk. Learn about the plants, trees, and hidden secrets of one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests before enjoying morning tea.

Next, cruise the Daintree River on a one-hour guided tour. Glide through mangroves as your guide helps you spot saltwater crocodiles, tree snakes, and tropical birdlife, all while explaining the delicate balance of this unique ecosystem.

Continue to a private rainforest property for a delicious tropical lunch. Stroll along a peaceful creek before sitting down to a choice of steak, fish, or vegetarian meal served with fresh salads, fruit platters, and Daintree Tea or coffee.

In the afternoon, visit Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. Walk the beach and enjoy views from Kulki Lookout before stopping at the Daintree Ice Cream Company for locally made tropical fruit ice cream. The day ends with a scenic stop at Alexandra Lookout for panoramic views across the Daintree River estuary and Coral Sea before returning south.

We also enjoyed meeting simba his dog who comes on the boat with you. The food was lovely and lots of options, the ice cream was amazing!! Frequently asked questions

How much walking is involved?

The guided walks at Mossman Gorge and Cape Tribulation Beach are both easy grade and under one kilometre return. A medium level of mobility is required because the coach has several entry steps and guests will board and leave the vehicle several times during the day. This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility.

Is this tour suitable for children and families?

Yes. The rainforest walk, wildlife cruise, tropical beach and ice cream stop give families plenty of variety throughout the day. Children must be at least four years old. Because this is a full-day experience with a considerable amount of coach travel, it is best suited to children who are comfortable with longer days away from their accommodation.

Can I swim at Mossman Gorge or Cape Tribulation?

Swimming is not included as a scheduled activity on this tour. At Mossman Gorge, the experience focuses on a guided rainforest walk, while Cape Tribulation is visited for a beach walk, coastal scenery and photos. If swimming is an important part of your day, choose a tour that specifically includes a supervised swimming stop.

Is there a good chance of seeing crocodiles and other wildlife?

The one-hour Daintree River cruise gives you a good opportunity to look for estuarine crocodiles, tropical birds, tree snakes and other wildlife living around the river and mangroves. The cruise crew knows the habitat and will help point out animals that are easy to miss. Wildlife moves freely through the Daintree, so each cruise has its own natural encounters.

What food is included, and can dietary requirements be accommodated?

Morning tea, a two-course tropical lunch and an exotic fruit ice cream cup are included. Lunch normally offers a choice of steak, fish or a vegetarian meal, accompanied by salads, fresh fruit and tea or coffee. Gluten-free and dairy-free ice cream options are available. After booking, please contact us with any dietary requirements.

Are audio guides available in languages other than English?

Yes. GPS-activated commentary is available in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. The audio guide provides approximately three hours of commentary across the day, covering the environment, biodiversity and history of the Daintree region. After booking, please contact us with your preferred language.

Our guide, Daniel, was so informative and knowledgeable about so many things from biology, geology, history, agriculture that it made the day really interesting and fun. He kept everything running so smoothly and took us to the best ice-cream place as well.

A very long day, but we were very happy we were able to see everything and tick it off our list. Our guide was great, he made sure we had time to see everything and that we went to all the good spots for pictures. Would definitely recommend this as a must do tour to everyone!
