This full-day tour takes you deep into the World Heritage–listed Daintree Rainforest and the remote beauty of Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. Begin your adventure at the Wildlife Habitat, where you’ll encounter five distinct environments — savannah, rainforest, wetlands, nocturnal, and grasslands — each home to fascinating Australian species.
Next, cross the Daintree River aboard a cable-driven vehicular ferry, your gateway to one of the oldest tropical rainforests on Earth. Travel further into the rainforest to Cape Tribulation Resort and relax with a tropical lunch surrounded by lush greenery and crystal-clear streams.
After lunch, head to Cape Tribulation Beach, famous for its dazzling white sand and turquoise waters. Stroll the shoreline where two World Heritage wonders — the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef — meet in one breathtaking landscape.
The journey continues to Alexandra Lookout for panoramic views over the Daintree River and Coral Sea. Later, board a Daintree River cruise, gliding through mangroves and rainforest fringes while spotting crocodiles, birdlife, and other wildlife. Afternoon tea is included before returning to Cairns, completing an unforgettable day in Australia’s natural paradise.
Return transfers are included from selected Cairns, Palm Cove or Port Douglas hotels/locations. Please check availability to see pick-up points.

The combination of Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas and the Daintree River cruise gives you two very different wildlife experiences. At the habitat, you can see native species such as cassowaries up close, while the river guide helps look for estuarine crocodiles, tropical birds and other wildlife in their natural surroundings. Every day is different, which makes each cruise part of the adventure.
Yes. The itinerary includes an opportunity to cool off at a suitable freshwater swimming location above the crocodile line. Cape Tribulation Beach is enjoyed for its scenery, beach walk and photos. Bring swimwear and a towel if you would like to swim.
The walking is made up of short guided rainforest boardwalks and a beach walk, rather than a demanding hike. Comfortable shoes are recommended, and guests should be able to get on and off the coach and walk over outdoor surfaces.
Cape Tribulation is one of the most remote highlights you can visit from Cairns in a day, so the scenic coach journey is a substantial part of the experience. The drive is broken up by Wildlife Habitat, the Daintree ferry, rainforest and beach walks, lunch, lookout stops, the river cruise and an ice cream stop. Cairns pickups generally begin at around 7.15am, with return at around 7pm.
Yes. Wildlife Habitat, the ferry crossing, river cruise, beach time and ice cream give children plenty of variety throughout the day. Because this is a long full-day journey, it is best suited to children who are comfortable spending time travelling by coach.
Entry and the guided Wildlife Habitat visit are included. Optional photos with selected animals may be available during the visit and can be purchased separately.
Yes. Around the lunch stop, there is time to enjoy the tropical surroundings and choose between a freshwater swim or a relaxed walk. The day also includes a guided Cape Tribulation beach and rainforest boardwalk experience, allowing you to enjoy the area both independently and with commentary.
it was really a spiritual experience with George our guide being a local taking us through the culture of the land and showing a different perspective of the place.

It was a good trip, alot of it was spent driving but the sites were visited were worth it 🙂 and despite it being such a long day…i recall i was picked up very very early and then returned very very very late as I was the first on the pick up list. I return to cairns again I would probably do this tours again.
Dan was the tour guide today and I had such a great time learning lots of new things and exploring where the rainforest met the reef. We got to see a cassowary in the wild and crocodiles too
Awesome day out, accompanied by an excellent tour guide. Would recommend the trip as there was many sights to behold, tasty sandwiches and great conversations….not forgetting the ice cream on the way. Be prepared to be exhausted by the end of the trip. Thank you to our guide Lisa!
