The remaining 5% will be retained as a non-refundable administration and booking fee. Cancellations made within 5 days of travel will incur a 100% cancellation fee, including no-shows.

The ferry ride takes around 45 minutes each way, and the full-day schedule gives you up to six hours on Fitzroy Island. Once you arrive, the day is mostly yours to shape: walk to Nudey Beach, relax around Welcome Bay, swim, snorkel or join an optional activity. It is a flexible island day rather than a fixed guided itinerary.

Choose snorkel hire if you are happy exploring the reef independently; a flotation vest and lycra suit are included. The 35-minute guided snorkel experience is a friendly introduction for first-timers, while the 50-minute boat-based snorkel safari suits competent snorkellers who want to visit reef areas away from the main beach with marine-biologist commentary. Prefer to stay dry? The glass-bottom boat is the easy choice. Select the booking option that includes the activity you want.

There is a good mix of short rainforest walks and more energetic routes. The Nudey Beach track is about 1.2km return and includes granite boulders and several steep stone steps, while the lighthouse and summit routes are more demanding. Wear secure walking shoes, and pack reef shoes or sturdy sandals for the coral-rubble shoreline around Welcome Bay.

Yes — families can mix beach time, short walks and a glass-bottom boat ride, so everyone can enjoy the island in their own way. Travellers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The ferry is pram-friendly, but the rocky tracks and steps are not suitable for prams, and onboard storage depends on the vessel operating that day.

Yes. If you select the picnic lunch, it includes a baguette or wrap with seasonal fruit, a muesli bar, bottled water and juice. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, coeliac-friendly and pork-free choices can be arranged; there is no infant picnic-lunch option. After booking, please contact us with any dietary requirements.

The fringing reef gives you a lovely opportunity to see colourful fish, coral, molluscs and other marine life close to shore. Green sea turtles are frequently spotted around Fitzroy Island, whether guests are snorkelling or joining a glass-bottom boat ride, but the animals move freely and no particular sighting can be promised.

The crossing takes about 45 minutes aboard a fast, stable catamaran and is often smooth, although stronger winds can make it bumpier. If you are prone to motion sickness, choose a seat with fresh air and a clear view of the horizon. For medication, follow the product directions or ask a pharmacist about the right option and timing for you.

From November to May, wearing a lycra stinger suit is the comfortable choice for swimming and snorkelling in tropical waters. A lycra suit is included when you book snorkel hire, together with a flotation vest. If your option does not include snorkel equipment, suits can be hired separately on the day; always follow the crew’s local water-safety guidance.
