Departing from Melbourne, your day begins with a scenic drive to the start of the Great Ocean Road. Along this legendary coastal route, you’ll stop for morning tea before visiting the iconic Memorial Arch—a perfect photo opportunity to kick off your adventure.

Next, enjoy lunch in the laid-back beach town of Apollo Bay before heading inland for a short guided bushwalk through Melba Gully’s lush rainforest and peaceful cascades.

The journey continues to the world-famous 12 Apostles, where you’ll have time to soak in the dramatic beauty of these towering limestone stacks. Then, explore nearby Loch Ard Gorge, learning about Australia’s most storied shipwreck and discovering incredible natural formations like the Razorback and the Archway.

This full-day tour wraps up with a scenic inland drive back to Melbourne. While it’s a long day with plenty of driving, it’s packed with unforgettable stops and stunning coastal views. In peak times, the itinerary may operate in reverse.

Amazing views enhanced by brilliant guide!A fantastic tour with our guide James, the sights were spectacular, and he managed to take us to a few extra spots as we were pretty good on time. James’s knowledge of the history of Melbourne and stories surrounding the great ocean road really enhanced the trip, and let us appreciate the stories and history that we likely would have otherwise missed.

10/10We had the best day trip with Steve. He’s hilarious and so friendly, couldn’t ask for a better guide. The tour itself is pretty awesome and diverse, we saw the forest, ocean, kangaroo and koalas all in one day. It’s also pretty affordable comparing it to other similar tours when I was searching. Also there’s multiple pick up points which made it super convenient, 10/10!

What time does the tour leave Melbourne, and when will I be back?

Plan for an early start and a full day of sightseeing. Pickups run from around 6:45am to 7:35am at selected Melbourne CBD and St Kilda points, with return to Melbourne at about 8:00pm. Your confirmation will show the exact pickup point and time for your booking.

Where are the Melbourne pickup points?

You can choose from selected CBD and St Kilda meeting points, including Immigration Museum, Space Hotel and Hotel Indigo. Use the pickup point and time shown on your booking confirmation, as each location has its own departure time.

Are meals included, and where can I buy lunch?

Meals aren’t included, but the day includes a lunch stop in Apollo Bay where you can buy something from local cafés and bakeries. Bring a water bottle and a few snacks for the long journey.

How much walking is involved, and what should I wear?

You’ll have several short walks at scenic stops, including a guided rainforest walk of about 20 minutes at Melba Gully. Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, water and layers for changing coastal weather will keep you comfortable.

Can children join, and can the tour take strollers or wheelchairs?

Children aged three and over can join, making this a lovely choice for families comfortable with a long day on the road. Children under three cannot travel, and the vehicle cannot accommodate wheelchairs or strollers.

Is there a chance to see koalas or other native wildlife?

Yes—the tour includes wildlife viewing, and your guide will keep an eye out for native animals along the route. Sightings are wild and vary from day to day, so treat each encounter as a special bonus.
