You’ll travel inland first to reach the Shipwreck Coast and Twelve Apostles in the morning, then return to Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road. You’ll still experience the key coastal, rainforest and wildlife highlights; the main differences are the order of travel and a picnic-style lunch on the go. The final drive back to the city is also shorter after the long inland leg at the start.

Allow about 13 hours for the full experience. The central meeting point is outside the Immigration Museum at 400 Flinders Street for a 7:35 am departure, with selected inner-city pickups beginning earlier. The expected return to Melbourne is around 8:30 pm.

A light picnic-style lunch, morning tea and snacks are included. Lunch is usually a fresh sandwich enjoyed at a scenic stop, while extra snacks and drinks are at your own expense. After booking, please contact us with any dietary requirements.

The tour includes around 2–3 km of guided walking, and a low level of fitness is sufficient. Wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes, as rainforest paths and coastal viewpoints can be uneven or slippery after rain. The walks are a lovely way to break up the coach journey and enjoy the Otways up close.

The route gives you a good opportunity to spot wild koalas, kangaroos and native birds. The animals roam freely, so sightings vary, but the guide will make the most of the best wildlife areas along the route. Keep your eyes open through the eucalyptus forest and around the later coastal stops.

Yes. An optional scenic helicopter flight over the Twelve Apostles may be available during the visit. It is paid directly on the day and subject to availability, while the rest of the tour continues normally whether you fly or not.

Yes, the tour normally operates in rain and changing coastal weather. Bring a waterproof jacket, warm layers and comfortable shoes so you can enjoy the outdoor stops. It would only be cancelled if extreme conditions made travel unsafe.

Yes. Regular comfort and toilet stops are included throughout the day, with another short break in Apollo Bay. Exact timing can shift with traffic and the itinerary, but the long coach journey is broken up by sightseeing, walking and refreshment stops.
