A moderate level of fitness is recommended, but you can choose how much walking you do at Tahune Adventures. The Hastings Cave tour takes around 45 minutes and includes approximately 500 stairs in total, with handrails along the route. The Tahune Airwalk is 619 metres long and has 106 gradual steps, with rest points along the way. Comfortable, enclosed walking shoes are recommended.

You will have around two hours to explore Tahune Adventures. The Airwalk takes approximately 45 minutes, the ground-level Huon Pine Walk around 20 minutes, and the Swinging Bridges loop around one hour. Most guests can comfortably combine the Airwalk with one of the other walks, while faster walkers may be able to complete all three.

You can still enjoy Tahune Adventures without completing every elevated section. The Huon Pine Walk stays close to ground level and takes you through the forest beside the river. You can choose the walks that best suit your comfort level, although the Hastings Cave experience still involves stairs and low-light conditions.

The cave stays at approximately 9°C throughout the year, so it can feel noticeably cooler than outside. Bring a warm layer even in summer, together with sturdy enclosed shoes and a weatherproof outer layer for the forest walks.

There is an early stop in Huonville where you can purchase a takeaway lunch, snacks or coffee for the day. Meals and drinks are not included, but a slice of apple pie is included during the return journey. Any cider tastings or additional drinks are at your own expense.

Return transfers are available from selected hotels in central Hobart. If your accommodation is not listed but is within the city area, the nearest pickup point is usually only a short walk away. Pickup is in the early morning, with the exact time depending on your selected location.
