Step aboard a modern vessel for a 2.5-hour small-group cruise from Hobart, limited to just 14 passengers for a more personal experience. Relax in the spacious enclosed cabin with leather seating and large windows, offering panoramic views of the Derwent River. As you cruise past Battery Point, Wrest Point Casino, and the historic Shot Tower, your guide shares fascinating stories of Hobart’s maritime history.
Continue towards Storm Bay and marvel at Iron Pot Lighthouse, Australia’s oldest, standing proudly since the early 1800s. Along the way, look out for Betsey Island, home to gulls, cormorants, and the magnificent white-bellied sea eagle. Circumnavigate the island before heading close to Hope Beach, where the Southern Ocean’s swell rolls in, a favourite spot for local surfers. Return to Hobart refreshed, with a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty and seafaring history of Tasmania’s capital.
great trip seeing the coastline and the Iron Pot lighthouse
Right from the start, Hugh proved himself to be an amazing captain and guide. He showed us all the best part of the River Derwent on the way to the Iron Pot lighthouse, taking time, never rushing and making sure we enjoyed every previous second. A lot of history delivered with a healthy dose of humour, engaging everyone from the youngest to the young at heart. It’s an amazing half a day, and would definitely do it again had I enough time! For those with a fascination for lighthouses in remote settings, seals and sea birds, rugged coastlines, don’t miss this trip! And get Hugh!

Tom was a most excellent Captain! We were.lucky with the weather but his commentary was fab and even the jokes weren’t that bad!!! Excellent short cruise around the Derwent with snippets of history and ecological explanations. My budding marine scientist on board just loved it. Thanks for a amazing outing!
From the moment we arrived the booking staff were wonderful. Our skipper Sam was extremely polite, knowledgeable, accomodating, informative and made us feel very comfortable whilst on board.
