The purpose-built boat is designed for coastal conditions, and most guests find the ride comfortable. Conditions can vary once the cruise reaches Storm Bay, so choose a seat towards the rear, keep your eyes on the horizon and let the crew know if you begin to feel unwell. Ginger tablets are also available on board.

The cruise travels aboard a purpose-built vessel with a spacious enclosed cabin, comfortable leather seating and large windows, giving you shelter from the wind without missing the coastline. You can also move around the boat for open-air views and photos. A marine toilet is available at the front of the vessel and is reached by three small steps.

The route offers excellent opportunities to spot local wildlife as you travel around Betsey Island and into Storm Bay. Keep watch for seals, dolphins and seabirds, including white-bellied sea eagles, with whales also possible during their migration season. Wildlife moves freely through these waters, so every cruise has its own highlights.

Yes. Children of all ages are welcome, and the 2.5-hour duration, enclosed cabin, onboard toilet and small-group setting make it a practical coastal adventure for families. Dress children warmly, even on a sunny day, as it can feel much cooler once the boat is moving.

The route and included cruise experience are the same. The 10am departure is normally available from December to April, while the 2pm departure operates throughout the year. The booking calendar will show the available departure on your chosen date.

Check in at the Dock Head Building on Franklin Wharf in central Hobart and arrive 15 minutes before departure. This is a waterfront meeting point rather than a hotel pickup. There is no parking at the booking centre, but longer-stay parking is available at Argyle Street, Market Place and Evans Street car parks nearby.

Many guests with limited mobility have enjoyed the cruise. The vessel is not wheelchair accessible, however, and boarding involves a step up followed by two steps down. The onboard toilet is also reached by three small steps, so guests need to be able to manage these with assistance where required.
