Begin your unforgettable adventure before dawn, as your guides take you to the launch site to witness the awe-inspiring sight of hot air balloons being inflated—each one as tall as a ten-storey building. As the sun begins to rise, step into the basket with your experienced pilot and prepare for a truly magical journey.
Float peacefully above the rolling hills and rainforest-covered mountains of the Atherton Tablelands, while taking in breathtaking views stretching all the way to the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef. Experience the tranquillity of drifting gently above the earth, with only the occasional bursts of the burner to break the silence.
After your scenic flight, the adventure continues as you help the crew fold up the balloon—a fun and memorable part of the experience. Finally, gather with your pilot and fellow passengers to enjoy a light breakfast snack and toast the morning with a glass of sparkling wine, celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime flight.

Most Cairns city pickups are around 4am, with the exact time changing by season and hotel. Your confirmed pickup time will be included with your booking details. Standard returns to Cairns accommodation are usually between 9:30am and 10am, although sunrise timing and the morning’s drop-off order can shift the finish slightly.
Most flights are around 39 to 65 minutes. Rather than chasing a fixed time, the pilot flies to the morning’s conditions and chooses a suitable landing point, giving you a complete scenic flight with safety at the centre of the experience.
Yes. Children aged 3 years and over can fly, and anyone under 17 must travel with an adult. Young flyers also need to be able to climb into and out of the 1.2-metre basket using the built-in footholds and stand for the flight.
You don’t need a high level of fitness, but you do need enough mobility to walk a short distance, climb into and out of the basket under your own control, stand for the flight and hold the landing position shown by the crew. Helping with the balloon pack-up afterwards is optional, so you’re welcome to watch if you’d rather save your energy.
Dress for a pre-dawn outdoor adventure: closed shoes, comfortable long trousers and layers work best, and darker clothing is practical around farm launch and landing sites. The basket usually isn’t much colder than the ground once you’re airborne, but the early start can feel brisk, especially from April to October. A hat, sunglasses and water are also handy for after sunrise.
The balloon moves with the wind, so the flight often feels calm and unhurried, with peaceful stretches between the burner bursts. Matching-tour reviews from first-time flyers and people uneasy with heights often say they relaxed once airborne. It is still an open basket at altitude, so choose the experience only if that setting feels comfortable for you.
This is a shared flight, and the exact passenger number changes with the day’s temperature and loading. Commercial baskets commonly carry around 15 to 24 guests, with the crew arranging everyone to keep the flight safely balanced.
