What to expect

Journey south from Darwin on a full-day tour to Nitmiluk National Park, home to the famous Katherine Gorge. Travel along the Stuart Highway, passing through Adelaide River and Pine Creek, as your guide shares insights into the history, wildlife, and culture of the Northern Territory.

The highlight of the day is the optional NitNit Dreaming two-hour boat cruise through Katherine Gorge. Glide between towering sandstone cliffs that rise up to 70 metres high, with sunlight casting ever-changing colours across the rock formations. During the cruise, learn about the traditional custodians of the land, the Jawoyn people, and their rich culture and Dreamtime stories.

Depending on the schedule, visit Edith Falls (Leliyn) either before or after the cruise. Surrounded by rugged landscapes, the plunge pool here offers the perfect opportunity for a refreshing swim and scenic relaxation.

After exploring Nitmiluk, begin the return journey to Darwin, once again passing Pine Creek and Adelaide River. With approximately 780 km of driving and 1 km of walking, this tour is designed to showcase the very best of Katherine Gorge and Edith Falls in a single unforgettable day.

Really great tour, it’s a full 13 hour day which I was a bit apprehensive about but it was well worth it. The drive down we saw lots of wild animals. Dani our guide was phenomenal and had a lot of knowledge to share. The gorge was beautiful and the swim at Edith falls was awesome too (bring a pool noodle or floaty if you can!) Make sure you also bring snacks, a hat, sunscreen etc because it can get super hot in the gorge!! Aircon in the bus was great relief. A highlight of our NT trip for sure!

  • Fitness Level: A minimum moderate level of fitness is required to complete the walks down to the waterfalls in sometimes extreme weather conditions on this tour.
  • Age Restrictions: Children aged 6 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian at all times due to the swimming holes involved. Not suitable for infants or children aged 5 and under.

Cancellation Policy

  • Customer-requested cancellations made at least 9 days prior to travel will receive a refund of 95% of the total booking amount. The remaining 5% will be retained as a non-refundable administration and booking fee. Cancellations made within 8 days of travel will incur a 100% cancellation fee, including no-shows.
  • Should supplier be required to cancel or the operation of the tour for any reason, including on the rare occasions due to inclement weather, an alternative date or itinerary will be offered to the passenger. If the alternative date or itinerary cannot be arranged or agreed upon, a full refund will be authorised. If the passenger accepts the alternative date or itinerary, no refunds will be issued.
