Please note: This whale watching tour operates seasonally, from late May to early November each year.
Your whale watching adventure begins with check-in at the Brisbane wharf before boarding a scenic 75-minute ferry across Moreton Bay. Enjoy a complimentary beverage on either your outbound or return journey as you travel to Moreton Island.
Upon arrival, take a short stop at Tangalooma Island Resort before boarding your whale watching cruise at around 12:00 PM. Set out aboard a smooth-sailing, purpose-built catamaran — the ideal vantage point to spot humpback whales as they breach, tail slap, or swim alongside the vessel. With full commentary from marine experts, you’ll learn about the behaviors and migration patterns of these incredible animals.
During the cruise, enjoy a light lunch and refreshments served on board, making the experience both comfortable and memorable.
Back at the resort, you may choose to attend the Discover the World of Dolphins presentation at the Eco Centre at 3:15 PM, or simply relax and make use of the resort’s facilities. With access to swimming pools, restaurants, bars, and sandy beaches, the afternoon is yours to enjoy.
At 4:00 PM, return to the Tangalooma jetty for your ferry back to Brisbane, arriving at the wharf at approximately 5:15 PM.
Fantastic day with lots of whales spotted. Superlucky to see so many. Staff were great and the lunch was actually really good! Unfortunately sea quite rough so lots of people seasick. But the staff handled it really well.

Amazing day! So well organised and great commentary throughout. So lucky to get so close to the whales and also spot dolphins & turtles.
The trip is very informative and staff are very helpful.
Wonderful day, lunch was beautiful. Lots of whales, friendly staff and informed commentary.
Great day out with friendly crew and a clean and comfortable boat.
We had a great day the crew were very attentive and plenty of information on the whales. Just a shame it was so rough which made walking around the vessel very difficult.
