What to expect

Please note: This whale watching tour operates seasonally, from late May to early November each year.

Your adventure begins at the Brisbane wharf, where staff will confirm the day’s timings. Board a 75-minute scenic ferry across Moreton Bay, with a complimentary beverage included either on the way there or on your return journey.

On arrival at Moreton Island, enjoy free time to explore and full access to Tangalooma Resort’s facilities, including swimming pools, cafés, restaurants, bars, and the sandy beach. At approximately 12:00 PM, depart for a 3-hour whale watching cruise aboard a smooth-sailing catamaran. With panoramic views and full expert commentary, you’ll learn about the habitats and behaviors of humpback whales as you watch them breach, tail-slap, and glide through the waters. A light lunch, coffee, tea, and refreshments are served onboard.

Back at the resort, you may choose to attend the Discover the World of Dolphins presentation at 3:15 PM, or simply relax with more island time. As the sun begins to set, head to the jetty for the highlight of your day — the wild dolphin feeding program. Watch pods of dolphins as they visit the shallow shore, each with its own distinct personality, and learn about their quirky behaviors from the experts. Then step into the shallow water, assisted by the Dolphin Care Team and Eco Rangers, and hand-feed fish to a wild bottlenose dolphin — a once-in-a-lifetime experience conducted under strict guidelines to ensure their protection.

At approximately 7:00 PM, depart the island by ferry, arriving back in Brisbane at around 8:15 PM.

Three hours of whale watching was fantastic, they weren’t very active but we still got to see some The feeding of wild dolphins experience was amazing, but you should inform people that the time with a dolphin is very short, barely 30secs I’d say but still an amazing experience The lunch was nice and the boat along with the eco ranger on board telling us all whales was brilliant

A perfect day! I loved every minute of this activity. It is very well organized and I honestly don’t know how you could do it better. I saw so many more animals than I had expected and recommend it to everyone who likes to spend one day on the beautiful Moreton Island.

This was a fantastic way to both whale watch and feed dolphins. There is quite a gap in between where there isn’t much to do but it was nice to sit and watch the sunset. The whale watching was excellent and the captain tried their best to get us as close as we could. The dolphin feeding was quite fast and the photos were not very good so definitely take your own videos and photos! The lunch on the boat was surprisingly good! Overall, it’s good value to do all of these things in one day.
