What to expect

Discover the best of Tasmania’s wilderness, waterfalls, and wildlife on this full-day tour from Hobart. Begin at Mt Field National Park, home to temperate rainforests, giant swamp gums, and some of Tasmania’s most iconic waterfalls. Take the easy forest track to Russell Falls, then continue to Horseshoe Falls and along the Tall Trees Track where eucalypts soar up to 80m high. For keen walkers, the full Three Falls Circuit includes Lady Barron Falls.

After lunch, head to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary to meet native animals such as Tasmanian devils, wombats, kangaroos, and rare birdlife. Learn from expert keepers about Tasmania’s unique and endangered species.

Finish the day at the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington, rising 1271m above Hobart. From here, enjoy sweeping views across the city, Derwent River, and surrounding mountains — the perfect way to end a day filled with rainforest walks, waterfalls, wildlife, and scenery.

We return to Hobart around 5.30pm.

We enjoyed our guide, Trevor. He was knowledgeable about Mount Fields National Park. He kept our group moving at a swift pace. He spotted a pandemelon in the thick tree growth and we got nice photos. Trevor was overly considerate waiting for guests who were no shows. I wonder if there could have been better communication between the main offices and Trevor. I would have liked to have more time at Bonorong.

Beautiful day. Brett is passionate about Australia’s fauna. He shared many facts and stories about the native animals of Tasmania. Lovely little hike and waterfalls at Mt Field followed by a super fun visit to Bonorong. Richmond is a darling little town to explore and have lunch and the views from Mt Wellington are amazing. Great day trip.

We had a fun day on this tour! Every stop was very unique and just driving around the countryside of Tasmania was beautiful! It was a smaller shuttle bus that holds 20 people plus the driver. The driver explained a lot of things as we were going along, which was nice. We had plenty of time at each of the stops. It was a long day of driving, but it was a very scenic route. Our favorite was definitely the sanctuary where you got to feed the wallabies!
