This full-day tour from Hobart combines breathtaking coastal scenery with fascinating history. Begin your adventure on the Tasman Peninsula, home to Australia’s highest sea cliffs. Enjoy views from Pirates Bay Lookout, then follow the clifftop track to Waterfall Bay, Tasman Arch, and Devil’s Kitchen on one of Tasmania’s Great Short Walks.
Next, explore the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site with around four hours on site. Your entry includes a harbour cruise to the Isle of the Dead, site talks with expert guides, and access to the main penitentiary, solitary cells, and other preserved ruins. Learn about the harsh convict system and uncover the stories of those who lived here.
On the return to Hobart, stop at Richmond, a picturesque convict-built village. Wander its shops and cafes, visit the sweet shops, or cross the country’s oldest convict-built sandstone bridge before heading back in the late afternoon.
We arrive back into Hobart around 6.00pm.
We had a wonderful day travelling to Port Arthur. We very much enjoyed stopping at the Tasman National Park and walking the cliff top walk.
Very good. Peter, our driver/guide was excellent. Loved the stops along the spectacular coast, including the walk. Port Arthur was really interesting and Richmond was a pleasant historical town on the way back.
