Port Stephens has a large resident population of bottlenose dolphins, so sightings are very common. They are completely wild, though, so no cruise can promise a sighting; the 90-minute trip is still a beautiful way to enjoy the harbour, live commentary and other marine life.

Yes—boom netting is usually available during the warmer months, subject to conditions on the day. Bring swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes, then follow the crew’s instructions onboard.

Yes. The sandboarding experience is designed for all ages, and you can choose how many runs you would like to do. The 4WD takes you into the dunes, while the walk back up the soft sand is at your own pace.

There is light to moderate walking throughout the day, including boarding the cruise, following the sanctuary paths and walking on soft sand. The Story Walk is about 250 metres and the treetop SKYwalk about 225 metres; extra dune climbs are only needed if you want more sandboarding runs.

Plan for approximately 12 hours. The main departure is around 6:45 am and the expected Sydney return is about 6:30 pm, although traffic can affect the timing. Keep your evening flexible so you can enjoy the day without rushing.
