What to expect

Depart Perth with a scenic 1-hour cruise along the Swan River to Fremantle, enjoying live commentary as you pass city landmarks before reaching the Indian Ocean for the crossing to Rottnest Island.

On arrival, head to Thomson Bay and join your 1.5-hour guided coach tour. Relax in air-conditioned comfort as your expert guide shares stories of Rottnest’s history, culture, and wildlife. Highlights include Wadjemup Lighthouse, Cathedral Rocks, and the rugged West End, where you may stroll the coastal boardwalk for spectacular ocean views. Keep an eye out for fur seals and, from September to November, migrating humpback whales. Of course, you’ll also have the chance to spot the island’s cutest residents — the quokkas.

After your tour, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace. Rent a bike, swim at one of the island’s 63 beaches, snorkel, or visit heritage attractions such as Lomas Cottage and the Rottnest Island Museum.

Your day ends with a return ferry to Perth, completing a perfect blend of guided sightseeing and independent adventure.

If you select the AM option, you will join the morning bus tour; if you select the PM option, you will join the afternoon bus tour.

We really enjoyed our day trip to Rottnest. The transport was organised flawlessly with connections immediately one afternoon the other. We had a good amount of time on the island to explore by ourselves as well as enjoying the guided tour around the island with a very interesting commentary. Would recommend.
