Start your Rottnest Island adventure in Perth with a same-day return ferry that doubles as a scenic Swan River cruise. Depart from Barrack Street Jetty and enjoy panoramic river views with expert captain’s commentary before crossing the Indian Ocean to Rottnest Island.
On arrival, collect your bike directly from the ferry crew. Each hire includes a helmet and lock for your convenience. Please note bikes must be collected by an adult (18+), and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families can also rent children’s bikes, e-bikes, baby seats, or trailers from Pedal & Flipper (additional cost).
Cycling is the most popular and eco-friendly way to explore Rottnest, with no private vehicles allowed on the island. Ride at your own pace past secluded bays, pristine beaches, and scenic lookouts. A full 22 km loop around the island takes about 3–5 hours, while shorter routes are available if you prefer a leisurely ride.
At the end of the day, simply return your bike to the crew and reboard the ferry for a relaxing journey back to Perth.
We were given bicycles in good condition, equipped with gears, which made it easier to overcome the hilly sections of the island. The boat trip was spectacular through the Swan River from Elisabeth quai. The boat crew was friendly.
All in all a great experience!
Meeting point: Barrack Street Jetty, Perth WA 6000
The ferry departs from Perth at 8:30 AM and returns from Rottnest Island at 4:00/4:30 PM.

Awesome. The crew members were very attentive.
Visiting the island by bike is definitely a good idea. From around 2 p.m. you could see lots of quokkas and take great selfies/pictures.
