End your day on Hamilton Island out on the water, with a drink in hand and the Whitsunday Islands changing in the evening light. Meet at Hamilton Island Marina and step aboard On the Edge, a spacious sailing catamaran, for a relaxed 1.5-hour sail through the sheltered waters surrounding the island. Departure times shift throughout the year to follow the sunset, so check the confirmed time on your booking before heading to the marina.
Once the marina slips behind, choose a comfortable spot on deck and settle into the easy pace of the sail. Complimentary beer, wine, sparkling wine and soft drinks are served alongside a shared gourmet grazing platter of cheeses, cured meats, dips, seasonal fruit and accompaniments. If you feel like making more of the occasion, cocktails and other premium drinks are available to purchase from the licensed bar.
As the daylight softens, watch the coastline and surrounding islands take on the colours of the evening. Move around the deck for photos, enjoy the view with family and friends, or simply sit back and take in the Whitsundays from the water before sailing back to Hamilton Island Marina. The precise route follows the wind and weather conditions, giving each evening a slightly different view of the islands at sunset.
Such a great experience. Crew were friendly and professional. They took a special song request which made the night extra special. We took a group of 13 and they couldn’t be more accomodating. Would definitely do this experience again!
Staff were amazing, their enthusiasm and jokes made our trip so enjoyable. The food and drinks were Devine and the consistency in which they were served ensured that throughout our trip we weren’t left hungry or thirsty. We were blessed to have such a clear sky to view the sunset

Yes. Children aged 8 years and over can join the sunset sail. The 1.5-hour duration, sheltered sailing area, spacious catamaran, soft drinks and shared grazing platter make it an easy evening activity for families travelling with older children.
Beer, wine, sparkling wine and soft drinks are complimentary during the cruise. A fixed number of drinks or unlimited service is not promised, as drinks are served and managed by the onboard crew. BYO alcohol is not permitted, but cocktails and other premium drinks can be purchased from the licensed bar.
The standard tour is a shared sunset sail rather than a private charter, with a maximum capacity of up to 58 guests. Private charter arrangements are separate from the standard ticket and need to be requested and priced individually.
The included food is a shared grazing platter rather than a full plated dinner. It features cheeses, cured meats, dips, seasonal fruit and accompaniments. The cruise returns with time to continue your evening and arrange dinner on Hamilton Island. Please provide any dietary requirements when booking.
Sunset colours depend on the weather and cannot be guaranteed. The cruise may still operate in cloudy or light-rain conditions, and the route or timing may be adjusted for the conditions. If the operator decides the tour cannot operate safely, affected guests will be contacted about the available arrangements.
The cruise stays within some of the more protected waters surrounding Hamilton Island, and On the Edge is a wide sailing catamaran. Conditions can still vary, so guests who are sensitive to boat movement should take their usual precautions before departure.
No. This is a 1.5-hour onboard sunset sailing experience rather than a beach or swimming tour. Guests remain aboard the catamaran as it sails around the waters surrounding Hamilton Island, then return to the same marina. No swimming ability or sailing experience is required.
We absolutely loved this cruise. It was magical and very romantic. The conditions were perfect, the sunset colorful, the champagne flowed. The staff were wonderful and everyone on the boat was so friendly. A dream come true
A must do when on Hamilton Island. Great crew and sunset was beautiful. We will be back.
We had a beautiful night sailing even though we didnt really have a sunset, we enjoyed the company of others on the sail. The crew were fantastic & made us feel very welcome with non stop drinks & food. It has given us a great memory.
Exquisite scenery: tranquil seas, a stunning sunset, accompanied by champagne and delightful nibbles. An absolute must-try experience!
I booked with 11 friends. Everyone raved how beautiful the cruise was. The staff were excellent. Great value for the money. Drinks and nibbles just kept coming. 10 Stars …. would highly recommend Kerri
