A few simple steps can make the three-hour cruise much more comfortable. Complimentary ginger tablets are available, and the rear third of the boat generally has less movement. Keep cool, look towards the horizon and tell the crew early if you start to feel unwell.

The cruise offers excellent opportunities to see seals, dolphins and seabirds, with migrating whales possible at the right time of year. Wildlife is free-ranging, so every trip is different and no particular sighting can be promised. The towering cliffs, caves, waterfalls and rock formations are spectacular even when the animals choose to stay hidden.

Yes, there is a small marine toilet on board for the three-hour cruise. It is below deck and reached by four steps, so we recommend using the accessible facilities at the visitor centre before boarding. Access to the onboard toilet may be paused when sea conditions make it unsafe.

Yes, children of all ages are welcome, and many love the wildlife, caves and dramatic coastline. The cruise lasts around three hours and the full day runs from early morning until about 6:00 pm, so it best suits children who are comfortable with a long day on and around the water. Bring plenty of warm layers for them.

Travellers who can manage steps with assistance may still be able to enjoy much of the experience. The buses are not wheelchair accessible, although standard collapsible wheelchairs and walkers can be stored, and boat access changes with the jetty used that day. This tour is not suitable if fully step-free transport and facilities are required.

Check in by 7:15 am at the Dock Head Building on Franklin Wharf, next to the Constitution Dock Lifting Bridge, for the 7:30 am departure. There is no dedicated operator parking, but all-day parking is available nearby at Evans Street Car Park or Market Place Car Park. The tour returns to Hobart at about 6:00 pm, with hotel drop-off available at the end of the day.

This option combines the three-hour cruise with morning tea, lunch and guided local sightseeing. Entry to Port Arthur Historic Site and the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo is not included. Choose one of the dedicated combination tours if either attraction is a priority.
