It’s a rewarding 2.6-kilometre return Grade 3 walk, with a steady uphill climb, rough sections and plenty of steps. Allow around 1–1.5 hours for the return walk, with resting seats available along the way. Moderate fitness, good mobility and sturdy closed shoes are important.

The beach option is the bigger adventure: allow about 2.5 hours for the full 6-kilometre return walk, including roughly 1,000 steps down to the sand and the climb back up. If you return with the guide after the lookout, you’ll visit Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville instead. Choose the beach for a longer hike and time on the sand, or the shorter route to see more of Freycinet’s scenic stops.

Meals and drinks are at your own expense, so you can bring lunch or buy a bakery-style takeaway during the morning stop. You’ll enjoy lunch at Wineglass Bay Beach or Honeymoon Bay, depending on your walking choice. Devil’s Corner also sells seafood, pizza, pasta, gelato, coffee and wine during the afternoon stop.

The general meeting point is the Tasmanian Travel & Information Centre at 20 Davey Street, with pickup at 7:25am for the 7:30am departure. Pickup is also available from selected Hobart hotels between about 7:00am and 7:30am; choose an available pickup point when booking and be ready a few minutes early. The tour returns to Hobart at around 6:00pm.

Yes, it’s a memorable active day for families with children aged 8 and over who enjoy walking outdoors. Every guest needs to manage the uphill lookout track, while the longer beach walk is best for confident, energetic walkers. Children under 8 can’t join this tour.

This experience is best suited to travellers with good mobility and moderate fitness. The required lookout walk is a steep Grade 3 track with rough sections and many steps, and the tour isn’t wheelchair accessible. If uphill walking or uneven ground is difficult for you, this won’t be the right tour.
